Bonjour! French is spoken by over 220 million people worldwide. Currently, French is the official language of 29 countries, second only to English in this category. French is one of the working languages of numerous international organizations, including the United Nations and the European Union.

French has played an important role in art, cultures, film, cuisine and viticulture, sports, world politics, international business, science and medicine, and global communication.
