Dear Prospective College of Marin Nursing Applicant,
The College of Marin Registered Nursing (RN) Program is required to use an applicant’s first TEAS exam score within the past 365 days from the date of testing. If that first score is below the required passing benchmark (62%), you are not eligible to apply during that one-year window unless you complete the approved remediation plan outlined below.
Successful completion of remediation—paired with a passing TEAS score (62% or higher) on your first retake after remediation—restores eligibility within the same one-year timeframe as the initial failing score.
Eligibility Options
Option 1: Wait 365 Days
- Retake the TEAS and earn a passing score (62% or higher).
- Wait to apply until 365 days have passed from your original failing exam date so that only your passing score appears within the one-year window.
Example:
If you take the TEAS in October 2026 and do not pass, you are not eligible for the November 2026–February 2027 application cycle (without remediation). You may retake the TEAS during the year, but you must wait until October 2027 has passed to apply (November 2027–February 2028 cycle), so the failing score is no longer within 365 days.
Option 2: Complete Remediation (No 365-Day Wait)
If you wish to apply without waiting 365 days, you must complete the official remediation plan.
After completing remediation:
- Your College of Marin academic counselor must submit verification to the Nursing Education Department.
- You may retake the TEAS exam.
- You must earn a passing score (62% or higher) on your first attempt following remediation.
Example:
If you do not pass the TEAS in October 2026, you may complete remediation, obtain counselor verification, and retake the TEAS in January 2027. If you pass (62% or higher), you are eligible to apply during the November 2026–February 2027 cycle.
College of Marin Nursing TEAS Remediation Plan
To complete remediation successfully, you must:
Begin remediation at least 4 weeks (28 days) before the application deadline.
(ATI requires a minimum 14-day waiting period before retesting.)
- Purchase and complete an ATI TEAS preparation package that includes:
- ATI Practice Exam
- Preparing to Take and Pass the TEAS Exam
- Submit an official ATI transcript to your College of Marin academic counselor showing completion of an ATI Practice Exam with a minimum score of 62%.
- This satisfies the remediation requirement only.
- It does not count as passage of the official TEAS exam for program application.
- Obtain counselor clearance to retake the TEAS exam.
- Only one TEAS attempt is permitted after remediation and
- A minimum score of 62% is required.
