As a studio arts major you will apply creativity, problem-solving, and design-based solutions to different media, including sculpture, ceramics, painting, and jewelry.

Whether becoming an entrepreneur or working for a business or institution, an art degree will help you succeed in many areas.

  • Professional artist (specializing in your chosen medium such as painting, jewelry, etc.)
  • Interior, graphic, fashion, or product designer
  • Graphic artist or illustrator (children's book, scientific, video game, etc.)
  • Animator
  • Art conservator or restorer
  • Installer or preparator for art museum
  • Director/owner of art gallery
  • Art museum educator
  • Art teacher (K-12) or college/university studio art faculty

Transfer Opportunities and Pathways

A Studio Art major can be found at many bachelor’s granting institutions. Some universities and colleges may even have similar, but more specified majors to explore, that could align better with your interests. Although College of Marin only focuses on 22 majors, transfer institutions often have hundreds of choices, giving students more options to find their best academic fit.
